Like any long-term business, Tribob’s overriding concern is to ensure that our Singapore-based professional service is high-quality and effectual. We wish to be a cost-effective, profitable company.

Here at Tribob HQ, I'm privileged to be surrounded by a distinctive team of individuals who are exceptionally capable in their fields of expertise. We all love triathlon, and wish to share the compelling health benefits that come with this wonderful sport.

Since it’s inception in 2000, there has been an additional side to Tribob which is fundamental to the spirit of what we do.

It's a sobering fact that out of a total of 6,000 million people alive today, 3,000 million live on less than US$2 per day. Half of all human beings thus live in what you and I might describe as "severe poverty", with many of those falling below the “survival threshold” living in Africa and Asia, often just a couple of hours flight from Singapore.

As we carefully look after our own nutrition and undertake meticulous training on our expensive bikes, should these facts concern us?

In recent years, Tribob has made a point of organizing overseas triathlon training camps to countries in Africa and Asia where we train amongst people living in remarkable conditions of poverty - conditions which at times we can only describe as heart-breaking.

As we enjoy contact with these people and profit from their work, these individuals become our friends. Living intimately with them in the mountains of the Himalayas or running in the hills of Kenya, we see them struggling with the burden of simply sustaining life from day to day. Under such circumstances, we come to care.

Tribob is not a charity. We are a mainstream, fast-growing firm competing in a tough, competitive world, offering professional services. But we feel strongly that living in the prosperous city of Singapore, within close flying distance of stunningly-beautiful but impoverished countries, we want to help where we can and give back a little.

In recent years,

• We've visited refugee camps and coastline areas devastated by the 2003 Tsunami in Sri Lanka. Our associates in these countries are chosen for their fair business practices that promote employment among the poor.

• In Nepal, we encourage tourism-related activities by identifying capable Nepalese partners, employing and training them accordingly.

• We’ve worked personally with Kenyan marathon runners [see news] whom we assist to develop the skills they require to progress to professional athletes who can support their families.

Looking forward, we want to work more with our growing number of friends and partners in Africa and Asia, trying to offer them opportunities by organizing triathlon-related events. We invite you to join us on these future training camps and other initiatives!

Thanks for your support.

"I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.”

Matthew 25:35-36, The Bible, New International Version
