Frequently Asked Questions About the Tribob membership
Do I need to have done a Triathlon before I join Tribob? No, Tribob training sessions cater for all levels of athletes. These range from complete beginners to top age-group athletes. It is however recommended that you get a full medical check up from your doctor before partaking in any strenuous physical exercise.
Do I need to be able to swim freestyle to become a member? No, on a Monday evening we have a “beginner’s swim lane”. This swimming lane is there to teach individuals who are unable to swim freestyle to swim it. However, please note that we do not recommend weak swimmers to take part in our Wednesday evening swim sessions, or Saturday afternoon open water swim session.
If I become a member do I have to I have to join every training session during the week? No, you may come to as many or as few training sessions during the week as you like. It is recommended though that you attend at least 2-3 training sessions per week to see improvements in your fitness.
What if there are adverse weather conditions before or during a Tribob training session? The training sessions will always run whatever the weather. A training session will only ever be cancelled if members are at risk, for example dangerously close lightning or high speed winds. The decision will be made at the coach's discretion.
Is it possible to sample some training sessions before becoming a member? Yes, all individuals who are interested in becoming a member of Tribob are entitled to try two training sessions of there choice (with the exception of the Saturday open water swim session and the Sunday ride) before making the decision to join.
What if I am unable to attend training for a long period of time during my membership period? Tribob offer a freeze policy for such a situation. Members are able to freeze their current membership for a minimum period of one month. More information on Tribob’s freezing policy can be view here.
Do a need to have a racing bike? A racing bike is recommended if you have some cycling experience, however if you are new to cycling and don't own a road bike, it is fine to start on a mountain bike with slick/thinner tyres and progress onto a standard road bike when you are comfortable.
About Tribob individual swim lessons
Do I need to be a member to have swimming lessons? No, swimming lessons are open to non-members as well. However, members are able to enjoy swimming lessons at a reduced price and are able to partake in solo individual swim sessions at a fixed rate, while non-members need to purchase swim lessons in blocks of 5, 10 or 12.
About Lab testing
Do I need to be a member to have a Lab Test? No, Lab Tests are open to non members as well. However, members are able to enjoy lab testing lessons at a reduced price.
Are Lab Tests for higher standard athletes? It is recommended that before having a lab test you have consistently trained and competed for around 12months. The lab testing allows for advanced methods of training and the tests are more beneficial after consistent training and racing.
About consultations
Do I need to be member to have a 1:1 consultation with one of the Tribob coaches? No, non members are able to have a consultation with a Tribob coach for the cost of just 80SGD. Consultations last for around 1 hour. As a Tribob member you are able to enjoy unlimited 1:1 consultation free of charge throughout the triathlon season.
About Tribob training camps
Do I need to be a member to join a Tribob Training camp? No, Tribob training camps are open to non members as well. However, members are able to enjoy the Tribob training camps at a reduced price. |
